This is my mandala, colored pencil on white paper, with acrylic white paint detailing. The new skill I learned, or practiced, is using symmetry in art, and mixing media. I normally sketch natural objects, like people and flowers, which are asymmetrical, so it was interesting to draw this because you can't just draw it free hand. The main art elements I used were color, value, shape and space. The color and value work together because I blended the greens and the blues and the yellows together in their respective areas. Also, the space between the dots was important. You want the dots to be the motif of the picture, so there must be a lot, but you can't cover up the color blending. The design elements in this piece were unity and harmony, due to the symmetry and following of pattern. The whole mandala looks whimsical or magical, so I would describe the mood to be happy and carefree.
